Women & Children EmpowermentSwami Vivekananda supported women in the society. He strongly believed that the women should be educated and that any decision regarding the welfare of widows and women should be in the hands of the women themselves.

The Way for Country to Grow.It is the strong belief of Swami Vivekananda that if the women are raised, their children will by their noble actions glorify the name of the country; then will culture, knowledge, power and devotion awake in the country.
All nations have attained greatness by paying proper respect to women. That country and that nation which do not respect women have never become great, nor will ever be in future. |
Women empowerment, Vivekananda and senior citizenEmpowerment is understood as the process by which the ones without power gain greater control over their lives. “This means control over material assets, intellectual resources and ideology. It involves power to, power with and power within.”In simpler terms empowerment can be defined as a process of creating “awareness and conscientization, of capacity building leading to greater participation, effective decision-making power and control leading to transformative action. For women the power relation that has to be involved includes their lives at multiple levels, family, community, market and the state. Importantly it involves at the psychological level women's ability to assert themselves and this is constructed by the 'gender roles' assigned to her specially in a culture which resists change like India.”
